Questions about the code
Which URL do I paste?
The address of your own listing page on Tripadvisor — the one that starts Hotel_Review or Restaurant_Review and contains "-g" followed by a number and "-d" followed by a number. Those two numbers are the location and the listing; the review form needs nothing else.
Is asking guests for Tripadvisor reviews allowed?
Yes — Tripadvisor says it is a great idea to ask guests to review your property. It bans selectively soliciting reviews only from guests who had a positive experience, by email, surveys "or any other means", and offering anything in exchange for a review whatever the rating. Show every guest the same code.
What about Review Express?
Tripadvisor's Review Express is free and sends the request by email after the stay. It is Tripadvisor-only and email-only. A code at the spot reaches the guest while they are still at the bar, and can offer Google beside Tripadvisor on one page.
Why build a tool for this?
Generic QR generators will encode any address, but they do not build the write-a-review link for you. Hotels are the businesses for which Tripadvisor still decides bookings, so it seemed worth the ten lines of code.
